Dedicated to his late paternal grandfather, Orlando Valido, Mi Flor also draws inspiration from the love story of his paternal
grandparents in Cuba and reflects the experiences of his maternal grandparents as well. Both sides of Valido’s family were raised
in the rural regions of Cuba, deeply connected to the island’s Guajiro culture—a way of life built upon hard work, family, community,
agriculture, resilience, and pride in one’s heritage.
The song honors generations of Cuban families who worked the land, cultivated strong communities, and ultimately immigrated to the United States in search of freedom and opportunity.
